“Home is the nicest word there is”

                     Laura Ingalls Wilder

I’ve always dreamed of becoming an interior designer.  I may want to pursue that dream someday. Using natural textures and calming earth tones is what I’m most comfortable with when it comes to decorating.  I’m so infatuated with antlers, moss, burlap, faux furs, driftwood and birch bark.  I love everything that is related to nature.

My husband and I have collected many pieces of antique furniture over the years of our marriage.  We have an assortment of all kinds of vintage collectibles featured in many rooms of our old 1970’s farmhouse.  I like to mix the old with the new modern rustic look.

Decorating With Vintage Containers ~

Kitchen Decor ~ Zinc Containers

I love rustic decor, especially zinc containers with simple bouquets filled with fresh cut flowers from the gardens.  Blue Flax is simply gorgeous and grows in the south part of the yard in among the spruce trees!  Their delicate little blooms are perfect in a vintage vase or a container placed on  the kitchen counter!

Antique Chairs ~ Florals & Buckets

I love decorating with vintage decor...a captain’s antique chair fits perfectly in the corner of the kitchen decorated with tossed cushions and vintage buckets filled with cosmos from the flower gardens!
My summer kitchen looks & smells so heavenly with everyday fresh cut botanicals and delicious summer fruit displayed in bowls or baskets!

Peonies

I love a white kitchen decorated with simple bouquets of fresh cut flowers from the gardens!  White peonies in glass vases are gorgeous and elegant!  A heavenly scent that fills up the room with natural fragrance!  Pleasant and elegant  blooms to soften up the atmosphere in this old farmhouse!

Glass Jars & Metal Hooks

Every farmhouse has a mud room with a sink for washing up the dirt from the outdoor gardens!  We replaced the old green vanity with a vintage buffet that came from an old farmhouse and installed an above sink for a modern rustic look!  Using metal hooks for hanging up hand towels and jars of tea lights creates a cozy and vintage look to the wash area!

An old weathered wooden crate, a vintage hay fork, an old rustic milk can add a hint of country charm to these festive pumpkins!

Antique Pumpkins~

An old rustic grain scoop adds a huge welcome to our guests for the Thanksgiving weekend!

Outdoor Fall Decor

When autumn arrives, I enjoy decorating the yard for our annual Thanksgiving weekend, where we have family and friends coming to join us in the celebration.  Every year, I head to the local pumpkin farms and select pumpkins of white, blue and cheese.

White Pumpkins

I love decorating with white, blue and fairytale pumpkins and accents and hints of plum tones. Hydrangeas, hops, burlap and a collection of vintage containers make a welcoming presentation to any entry way.

Apples & Pumpkins

September is apple picking time here in the south!  Apples and pumpkins make a perfect collaboration with baskets and galvanized buckets.  The richness of red apples blend well with all colors, shapes and sizes of most pumpkins.
