“All Gardeners live in Beautiful places because they make them make so”
                                            Joseph Joubert

Westgate Pastures

My husband, Scott and I enjoy spending our time outdoors fidgeting in the yard.  He loves puttering about at his outdoor workshop, building projects out of old pallets and reclaimed wood.  Myself, I flutter from one flower garden to the other like a butterfly grooming and replanting flowers and shrubs.
It’s a big job maintaining our acreage from grass cutting to lawn care.  I tend to wonder how my husband’s parents managed years ago.  We took over the acreage a few years ago and we were left with the most beautiful place any new country owner could wish for.
I learned a lot from my father-in-law, what to plant and how to arrange and design garden beds, from transplanting to grooming.  I’m deeply thankful for his knowledge and grateful for his teachings of how to become a successful gardener.
Gardening is a lot of work, though I enjoy it immensely.  During the spring and summer months this is where I'll be spending most of time.  I’m very excited to share my backyard oasis with you.

Backyard Blossoms

Every spring, I look forward to the blossom trees, the hummingbirds, the orioles and the robins!
Spring makes everything beautiful again!

Crab Apple Blossoms

The crab apple blossoms arrive early June!  Pretty white blossoms attracting honey bees from areas around the countryside.

Nan King Cherry Blossoms

Late May, the Nan king shrubs bud shortly after the snow has melted bringing delicate little white flowers with a tint of pink!  These white blossoms are such a delight to the honeybees and bumblebees!  In mid July, these blossoms produce red jewel cherries perfect for jellies and fillings!  The robins thoroughly enjoy feasting on these backyard cherries!
